The Largest Exhibitions in Turkmenistan

Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan has quietly built one of Central Asia’s most structured exhibition calendars, anchored by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat. The country hosts 15 major international exhibitions, forums, and conferences annually, covering sectors from energy and construction to textiles and tourism. These events serve as critical platforms for a nation that remains largely closed to foreign direct investment outside of strategic industries, offering rare windows into its state-led economy and emerging private sector.

Here is a look at the largest and most significant exhibitions that define Turkmenistan’s business landscape.

Energy: Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan (OGT)

OGT Expo stands as the flagship event of Turkmenistan’s exhibition calendar and the most internationally significant forum the country hosts. Now in its 31st edition, this conference and exhibition has been held for over three decades and is recognized as Central Asia’s largest and most influential energy gathering.

Scheduled for October 21–23, 2026, OGT brings together senior government officials, national energy companies, international investors, engineering firms, and global technology providers. Turkmenistan possesses some of the world’s largest natural gas reserves, and the forum reflects the country’s long-term strategy of developing its hydrocarbon sector while balancing ecological responsibility with technological modernization.

The event serves as a critical meeting point for discussions on exploration and production, gas processing, petrochemicals, and cross-border energy infrastructure. For international energy companies seeking a foothold in Central Asia, OGT remains the single most important annual event in the region.

Construction and Urban Development: White City Ashgabat

The White City Ashgabat exhibition is Turkmenistan’s premier multi-sector forum for construction, architecture, and urban development. The 25th edition, held May 24–25, 2026, carried special symbolic weight as it coincided with the 145th anniversary of the capital city.

The scale is substantial: more than 800 delegates from 55 countries registered, including senior government officials, international organizations, urban development experts, and investors. Over 125 foreign companies participated in the exhibition, with additional national construction firms joining as sponsors. The theme—”Architecture. Innovation. Sustainable Development”—reflects Ashgabat’s ambition to position itself as a model modern city, known for its distinctive white-marble architecture and planned urban infrastructure.

A notable highlight was the United Nations High-Level Roundtable on sustainable, inclusive, and smart cities, adding an important international institutional dimension to the forum. The event also featured thematic sessions on construction technologies, industrial ecosystems, energy systems, and investment models for future cities.

Agriculture and Food: Agro Pack Turkmenistan & Food Turkmenistan

Agro Pack Turkmenistan, held alongside Food Turkmenistan, is the country’s main platform for the agri-food industry. The 2026 edition, scheduled for May 12–14 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, covers the complete production chain: food and beverage processing machinery, packaging equipment, agricultural products, seeds, fertilizers, irrigation systems, and livestock technologies.

The 2024 edition attracted 75 companies from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Russia, Türkiye, and Turkmenistan. Organizers projected more than 120 companies for 2026, reflecting growing international interest in Turkmenistan’s agricultural modernization drive. The exhibition is particularly significant given the country’s emphasis on food security and import substitution, with new processing enterprises producing competitive goods labeled “Made in Turkmenistan”.

The opening ceremony drew senior government officials, heads of ministries and departments, diplomatic missions, and international organizations. Foreign participants from Türkiye, China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Greece, and the USA presented technological solutions adapted to the region’s soil and environmental conditions.

Textiles: TurkmenTextile Expo

TurkmenTextile Expo is the largest exhibition in Turkmenistan’s textile sector, organized by the Ministry of Textile Industry in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The 2026 edition, held June 4–6, brought together approximately 100 companies from Turkmenistan, Türkiye, China, Italy, Germany, India, and other countries.

The exhibition covers the entire production cycle: from equipment for processing natural fibers to finished garments, accessories, and textile chemicals. The 2026 edition featured about 110 exhibitors, including enterprises of the Ministry of Textile Industry, members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and foreign manufacturers of specialized equipment, dyes, and raw materials.

In his address to participants, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of combining national heritage and artistic traditions with modern innovative technologies to increase competitiveness in international markets.

Tourism: TurkmenTravel

TurkmenTravel is the country’s international tourism exhibition and conference, held April 14–16, 2026 in Ashgabat. The event serves as a platform for showcasing Turkmenistan’s tourism potential—from the ancient Silk Road cities of Merv and Konye-Urgench to the Caspian coast and the futuristic architecture of Ashgabat.

The exhibition brings together tourism companies, government agencies, and international operators interested in a market that remains largely unexplored by global tourism. It is one of the few sectors where Turkmenistan actively seeks foreign partnership and expertise.

Investment and Private Sector: IFT and TIF

Turkmenistan’s investment forums reflect the government’s stated priority of attracting foreign capital and developing the private sector.

The International Forum on Attracting Investments into the Private Sector, titled “Investing in the Future of Turkmenistan” (IFT), was held March 18, 2026. It brought together government officials, private sector representatives, and international financial institutions to discuss investment opportunities in Turkmenistan’s non-state economy.

The Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF) is scheduled for October 1–30, 2026, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This forum represents the country’s primary platform for presenting large-scale investment projects to international audiences.

Healthcare, Education, and Sports

The International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on Healthcare, Education, and Sports was held October 10–12, 2026, organized by the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry, Ministry of Education, and the State Sports Committee. The event reflects Turkmenistan’s emphasis on human capital development and its stated commitment to modernizing social infrastructure.

Other Notable Events

Turkmenistan’s exhibition calendar also includes several specialized events that round out its business landscape:

  • Turkish Republic Export Goods Exhibition (February 10–12) – showcasing Turkish products and fostering bilateral trade
  • Exhibition Marking the 18th Anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (March 17–19) – highlighting the private sector’s role in the economy
  • Turkmen-Chinese Business Forum and Exhibition (April 28–30) – strengthening economic ties with China
  • Kids Expo: Everything for Children (August 19–22) – a fair for children’s products and services
  • Exhibition of Economic Achievements (September 17–19) – marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence
  • International Exhibition and Conference on Construction, Industrial, Chemical, and Energy Industries (November 3–5)
  • International Transport and Transit Corridors Conference and Turkmentel (November 24–26) – focusing on telecommunications and transit connectivity

Turkmenistan’s exhibition industry operates on a scale and structure distinct from its Central Asian neighbors. The calendar is tightly organized by the state through the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with events clustered around strategic sectors: energy, construction, agriculture, and textiles. For international companies, these exhibitions represent one of the few structured avenues for engaging with Turkmenistan’s economy. While the business environment remains heavily state-controlled, the annual roster of forums and trade fairs signals a consistent, if cautious, openness to international partnership and investment.
