Where Artistry, Education, and Community Converge
The Makeup Show NYC, one of the most influential professional beauty events in the world, returned to the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan on May 3-4, 2026, bringing together more than 3,000 beauty professionals for an inspiring weekend of education, shopping, and connection. Now in its 21st year, the event continues to serve as the heartbeat of the professional makeup community, celebrating the artistry and camaraderie that define the industry.
A Show Built for Beauty Professionals
The Makeup Show is designed exclusively for makeup artists, hairstylists, cosmetologists, estheticians, students, and creative professionals. Unlike consumer-facing beauty events, this show creates a professional environment where artistry meets business, offering attendees the opportunity to sharpen their skills, discover new products, and build meaningful connections with peers who understand the unique challenges and rewards of working in the beauty industry.
Education at the Core
Education remains the cornerstone of The Makeup Show experience. The 2026 event featured seven stages of education alongside a new curriculum of hands-on workshops and business classes. Attendees could learn from some of the most renowned names in makeup artistry, including Alexx Mayo, Kasey Spickard, SandyNicha, Delina Medhin, Kenya Alexis, Kayla Perez, Jordan Liberty, Mei Pang, and Danessa Myricks.
A standout educational feature was the International Stage, sponsored by Danessa Myricks Beauty, which brought together working artists from different countries to celebrate diverse perspectives and creativity. Presenters included Kayla Perez from Australia, Kenya Alexis from the United States, Emily Clayton from England, Moises Ramirez from the United States, and Zoë Elizabeth from Mexico. These presentations offered attendees a global view of makeup artistry and techniques from around the world.
The Exhibit Floor: A Beauty Marketplace
The show floor featured more than 90 industry-leading brands in makeup, hair, skincare, and tools. Attendees had access to exclusive professional discounts on products and services, with a full exhibitor lineup that included Rare Beauty, INGLOT, Blend Bunny Cosmetics, ciele Cosmetics, Pat McGrath Labs, and many others. The addition of Discovery Lane offered attendees the chance to sample new products and discover emerging brands.
A Community-First Culture
What truly distinguishes The Makeup Show is its emphasis on community over competition. The event has historically served as a gathering place where iconic artist-entrepreneurs—including Danessa Myricks, Tisha Thompson, Kim Baker, and Ashunta Sheriff-Kendricks—first connected and built lasting relationships that have shaped the industry. As one longtime attendee reflected, the sense of community is what makes the show so essential: “being surrounded by artists who are on a similar path, navigating the same industry shifts, and just getting it.”
Beyond the Show Floor: Networking and Career Development
The 2026 event offered several initiatives designed to support career growth and professional networking:
- iArtist 8.0 – An intimate mentorship program connecting emerging artists with established professionals
- Perfect Pitch – A 1-on-1 portfolio review resource area for artists seeking feedback and guidance
- The Beauty Mixer – A VIP networking event for industry connections
- Artists United – A special masterclass event featuring Danessa Myricks and viral creator @paintedbyesther
Looking Ahead
Following the success of the New York show, The Makeup Show team announced plans to expand its reach with Creative Open House, a new traveling community event coming to Los Angeles and Orlando this fall, alongside the return of the annual holiday pop-up shop in New York on December 12-13.
For students and emerging professionals, The Makeup Show remains an invaluable gateway into the beauty industry, offering access to education, mentorship, and professional networks that can launch and sustain a career in makeup artistry. As the event continues to grow and evolve, it stays true to its founding mission: to empower and inspire the next generation of beauty professionals.
