Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention

The Heartbeat of Tribal Gaming and Sovereignty

The Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention, organized by the Indian Gaming Association (IGA), stands as the premier and longest-running gaming expo in the United States. It is more than just a trade show; it is the “figurative heartbeat of Native American success” and the largest gathering of tribal leaders and casino executives in the country. For 2027, this influential event is moving to a new location, set to take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from April 19–22.

Event Overview and a New Location

The decision to host the 2027 convention in Las Vegas marks a significant shift, as the event has been held in San Diego and Anaheim in recent years. The move to the Las Vegas Convention Center, situated in the heart of the global gaming capital, is expected to draw an even larger crowd of tribal leaders, casino executives, regulators, and industry professionals.

The event is owned and organized by the Indian Gaming Association in partnership with Clarion Events, creating a comprehensive platform that serves the global gaming ecosystem.

A Focus on Sovereignty and Urgent Challenges

The 2026 convention in San Diego set a powerful tone that is expected to carry forward to 2027. The opening day was marked by a unified focus on what leaders described as one of the most urgent challenges facing tribal gaming: the rise of illegal prediction markets and their threat to tribal sovereignty and regulated gaming.

Key sessions, such as “Prediction Markets: Building the Coalition for the Fight Ahead,” brought together industry leaders to discuss strategies for expanding advocacy efforts beyond Indian Country by engaging states, attorneys general, and federal policymakers.

David Z. Bean, Chairman of the Indian Gaming Association, issued a forceful call to action, emphasizing that the stakes extend beyond gaming itself.

“This is bigger than Indian gaming. This is about protecting the integrity of our industry, protecting tribal sovereignty, and protecting state sovereignty. What we are seeing right now impacts all of us,” Bean said.

He stressed that a lack of federal regulatory action has allowed illegal gambling to grow unchecked and that tribes must build coalitions and pursue parallel paths through litigation and legislation.

Honoring Leaders and Celebrating Culture

The tradeshow serves as a vital platform for honoring the leaders who have shaped the industry. The 2026 event paid tribute to former Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr., who passed away in 2025, with a heartfelt ceremony featuring a Smoke Dance performance and speeches from tribal leaders.

Additionally, Eddie Tullis, former Tribal Chair of the Poarch Creek Indians, was honored with the prestigious 2026 Rick Hill–Tim Wapato Sovereign Warrior Award at the Sovereign Warrior Celebration Luncheon. The award recognizes individuals whose leadership and dedication have made a lasting impact on tribal sovereignty and the advancement of Native nations.

The Exhibition and DigitalPlay Summit

The Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention is not only about policy but also about business and innovation. The exhibition hall features over 300 companies showcasing the latest products and services related to Indian gaming, hospitality, and technology.

A key highlight of the expo is the DigitalPlay Summit, a dedicated section on the show floor focusing on iGaming and sports betting. Born from a collaboration between the Indian Gaming Association and iGaming Business, the summit connects the expertise of U.S. tribal and commercial operators with insights from the established European online gaming market. It features expert-led sessions covering the entire gaming ecosystem, from slots and casinos to esports and sportsbooks.

Educational Programming and Networking

The convention features a robust 9-track conference program addressing relevant and timely topics, including casino operations, regulatory compliance, marketing, technology, and tribal sovereignty. The educational sessions are designed to answer the current needs of the industry.

The event is also a prime opportunity for networking. From the annual golf tournament to the Chairman’s Welcome Reception and daily sessions, the tradeshow is tailored to foster relationship building among the community.

Looking Ahead to 2027

As the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention prepares for its 2027 iteration in Las Vegas, it remains the essential event for anyone involved in tribal gaming. It is a place where the community gathers to conduct business, sharpen their skills, and celebrate their success and self-reliance. The 2027 convention promises to continue this legacy, addressing the pressing issues of the day while honoring the culture and sovereignty that defines Indian gaming.
