Elektro Moscow Exhibition

Elektro

Russia’s Premier Electrical Engineering Exhibition

In the dynamic landscape of Moscow’s exhibition scene, one event has illuminated the path for the electrical engineering industry for over half a century. The Elektro International Exhibition is not merely a trade show; it is the largest and most authoritative platform for the electrical industry in Russia and the CIS. Serving as a critical barometer for the sector’s health, it brings together everyone from manufacturers of heavy power transformers to developers of smart home automation systems, all under one roof to shape the future of energy and infrastructure.

A Legacy of Power and Innovation

Held annually since 1972, Elektro has a rich history of showcasing the evolution of the electrical engineering sector. Over the decades, it has cemented its reputation as the key communication platform for professionals specializing in electrical equipment, power engineering, construction, lighting, and automation. Its authority is underscored by the high-level support it receives, including backing from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Energy, and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Furthermore, it holds the distinction of being the only electrical exhibition in Russia certified by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), a testament to its international quality and significance.

A Comprehensive Showcase of the Industry

Elektro’s strength lies in its comprehensive coverage of the entire electrical engineering ecosystem. The exhibition floor is a sprawling display of cutting-edge technology, logically segmented to cover every link in the power chain:

  • Power Generation and Transmission: This section features everything from traditional generators and power plant equipment to high-voltage switchgear, transformers (a major focus with 45 companies in 2025), and specialized equipment for extreme environments, such as cables designed for permafrost conditions.
  • Electrical Products and Low-Voltage Equipment: This is often the heart of the show. In 2025, 107 companies showcased low-voltage switchgear, installations, and systems—the critical components for power distribution and protection in any facility. Products like circuit breakers, contactors, relays, and distribution cabinets are prominently displayed.
  • Industrial Automation and Control: As industries modernize, the demand for smart solutions grows. This segment highlights SCADA systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), drives, and industrial automation software that help clients achieve energy efficiency and advanced process control.
  • Lighting and Cable Products: A dedicated space for lighting engineering, wiring products, cables, and accessories, featuring innovations from leading manufacturers.
  • Metering and Power Quality: With Russia’s focus on modernizing its grid, this area is increasingly vital, showcasing smart meters, remote monitoring systems, and power testing and diagnostic equipment.

The Elektro 2025 Milestone: A Testament to Resilience

The 33rd edition of Elektro, held in April 2025 at the EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, demonstrated the industry’s robust health and the show’s indispensable role. Covering over 7,200 square meters, the event attracted 349 companies from six countries, including Russia, Belarus, China, Turkey, and Italy.

The exhibition served as a powerful platform for both domestic and international players. The return of major Russian manufacturers like DKC as the general sponsor, alongside the strong presence of Systeme Electric as the strategic partner, highlighted the industry’s focus on technological sovereignty and import substitution. The show also featured national pavilions from China and Turkey, underscoring the strong international interest in the Russian market.

Maxim Fateev, Director General of the organizer EXPOCENTRE AO, noted the show’s critical function: “The show has once again confirmed its importance as a platform for promoting domestic developments. In the context of global transformations and the growing need for technological sovereignty, such professional platforms become growth points for business and industrial cooperation”.

More Than an Exhibition: A Hub for Business and Strategy

Elektro is far more than a static display of products. It is a dynamic business ecosystem. The Partner Zone provides a dedicated space for B2B meetings, contract signings, and high-level networking, facilitating direct connections between manufacturers, suppliers, and key buyers.

Complementing the exhibition is a rich conference program. The “Business Forum on Electrical Engineering: New Energy of Development” is a central feature, hosting analytical sessions on market trends, workshops on special economic zones, panel discussions on investment, and sessions dedicated to overcoming industry challenges like staffing shortages and certification. The show also innovatively addresses human resources with its “Job guide: HR solutions business zone,” a job fair where exhibiting companies conduct interviews and HR experts hold masterclasses.

Looking Ahead: Elektro 2026 at a New Venue

Building on this momentum, the industry is now preparing for the 34th edition. Elektro 2026 is scheduled to take place from June 8th to 10th at a new venue: Pavilion 1 (Halls 3, 4) of the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center in Krasnogorsk, Moscow. This move to one of Moscow’s premier exhibition complexes signals the show’s continued growth and its ambition to provide an even better experience for exhibitors and visitors.

Organizers are expecting significant participation. Early forecasts suggest the 2026 event could feature over 680 companies from more than 40 countries and attract upwards of 30,000 professional visitors. The focus will be sharper than ever on Russia’s ambitious Energy Strategy 2035, which outlines plans for massive investment in grid modernization and the adoption of smart grid technologies. Special events like the “Arctic Energy Technology Summit” will highlight solutions for Russia’s most demanding environments.

For any company looking to establish or expand its presence in the Russian and CIS electrical markets, Elektro is the indispensable gateway. It is where business is transacted, partnerships are forged, and the blueprints for the future of energy are drawn. As Russia pushes forward with its grand infrastructure plans, Elektro will remain the central stage where the industry connects to power the nation’s development.
