Come discover how food can heal our relationship with nature when we gather in Parco Dora, Turin, from Thursday, September 26 to Monday, September 30, 2024.
The Terra Madre Conferences have always been the privileged place to reflect on the theme of the current edition, and in 2024 we can only entrust these events with the task of developing the many reflections that concern our relationship with nature, from multiple points of view.
Not only that. The conferences aim to provide concrete indications for how our food systems can make peace with nature in various areas and ecosystems – from cities to oceans, from forests to great plains – at a collective, individual and even institutional level.
An essential part of these reflections are the Slow Food networks and projects that work on ancient grains or traditional corn, on the revitalization of mountain areas and cities, that are committed to the implementation of co-management systems in fishing and the protection of the seas or to promoting an agricultural future based on agroecology, on respect for resources and working together with farming communities.
We are nature: how, when, where and why…
- Nature and climate crisis are the protagonists of a meeting in which we show how in all ecosystems and at all latitudes the changes determined by global warming are more tangible, evident, undeniable than ever. How can nature represent a possible answer?
- Talking about nature and consciousness we show how science and spirituality can start from completely different assumptions to reach extremely similar conclusions
- With nature and education we show how learning in contact with nature reconnects with the Earth, arouses interest and curiosity for the environment, helps to rediscover more natural rhythms
- If we analyze the nature and women binomial we discover how in patriarchal society women and nature are both victims of oppression and abuse, and how only a gentle response, made of care and cooperation can make us rediscover a future perspective made of equity, peace and beauty
- Nature and biodiversity is a binomial that makes us reflect on how, without the variety of living forms, life itself is destined to disappear because it loses the ability to adapt to changes. We need to put limits on our unsustainable growth rates. We need to do it urgently. We need a radical change.
