In terms of dental hygiene, Colorado has always been at the top. When the Colorado Dental Hygienists’ Association (CODHA) was established in 1919, its mission was to stimulate thought. Colorado was among the first states in the nation to permit dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia, and it was the first to permit unsupervised dental hygiene practices in 1986.
In Colorado, dental hygienists have been able to operate independently and as owners of their own practices for 35 years. For dental offices and hygienists, this has led to the development of numerous innovative and creative workforce models. In many areas of dentistry, dental hygiene, and entrepreneurship, Colorado dental hygienists remain pioneers.
The Centennial State is renowned for its magnificent river canyons, mesas and desert basins, majestic Rocky Mountains, and magnificent parks and resorts. While some mountain towns receive more than 300 inches of snowfall annually, other regions experience more than 300 sunny days annually!
