The importance of local culinary travel experiences on both domestic and international trips is demonstrated by the Matka Travel Fair‘s culinary travel survey. Nearly two thirds of the participants are organizing local and international culinary excursions for the upcoming year. A distinct Mediterranea Tasty Travel area will be introduced in January at Matka Travel Fair, where food plays a significant role.
Over 1,000 Finns responded to a survey Matka Travel Fair conducted on culinary travel via its own newsletter and social media channels between September and October. For the purposes of this survey, a culinary journey is defined as traveling, whether locally or abroad, in search of food and a culinary experience that you have read about or heard about. Of those surveyed, 55% claimed to have traveled for the food, and 67% indicated they intended to go on a culinary adventure the following year.
