London Design Festival celebrates and promotes the city as the design capital of the world. The 23rd edition will take place on 13–21 September 2025.
Ben Evans CBE and Sir John Sorrell CBE introduced the London Design Festival in 2003. Building on London’s current design scene, their idea was to organize a yearly event that would showcase the creative spirit of the city and bring together the best practitioners, educators, retailers, and thinkers in the nation for an unforgettable celebration of design. On March 25, 2003, the first Festival was launched at Bloomberg with support from the government, the design community, and organizations in London. Twenty years later, this vision is still very much alive.
The festival aims to highlight how it has contributed to the UK’s reputation as a creative powerhouse, strengthened London’s position as a global hub for business, culture, and tourism, and helped the design industry grow. The Festival, one of the top design events in the world, continues to be a significant event on the cultural calendar and has inspired design weeks and festivals all over the world.
The London Design Festival is an amazing occasion that showcases the capital’s status as a global hub for the creative industries and brings together designers from all over the world. London is renowned for its inventiveness and continues to draw the top businesses and people from across the globe. I’m happy to support the London Design Festival because it demonstrates how welcoming London is to people of all backgrounds and brilliant ideas. London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
London and design are closely related. It is related to our tale. The London Design Festival provides a forum for the telling of hundreds of design narratives. Each of them speaks to a growing number of people who are appreciative of the variety and quality of the offerings and are thirsty for design concepts. Everything supports London’s position as the world’s center of design.” – CBE Ben Evans.
