Indian consumers are now able to indulge in nice things because of their expanding purchasing power and the social media’s increasing influence. India is currently thought to have the second-largest consumer base in the world and the fastest-growing retail destination. The agricultural sector in India has benefited greatly from the notable expansion of the floriculture industry in recent times. The Grower’s Flower Council of India (GFCI) is a key participant in fostering flower production, promoting locally grown flowers, and raising awareness about the practical uses of fresh flowers.
It is essential in providing growers with support, encouraging sustainable practices, and elevating the visual appeal and cultural significance of fresh flowers. The ban on the import and sale of artificial and plastic flowers in India is a ground-breaking decision made by GFCI. This choice is in line with international initiatives to lessen the impact on the environment and plastic waste. By upholding this directive, GFCI guarantees the promotion of sustainably farmed, locally sourced flowers while also making a positive environmental impact. Given this, the 17th International Flora Expo, which took place in Mumbai, becomes an important venue for exhibiting the variety and elegance of Indian floral designs.
