Contemporary Istanbul serves as a platform where galleries, artists, collectors, curators, and academics from different parts of the world come together and meet, positioning the city as a contemporary art hub. Contemporary Istanbul, which started its life in 2006 as the 21st art fair in the world, is now among more than 350 art fairs worldwide. Contemporary Istanbul has become a “Soft Power” brand that strengthens the perception of the city and Turkey in the world. Contemporary Istanbul, which has been held with Akbank as the main partner since its first year and hosts participants from all over the world at Tersane Istanbul, carries its duty of being the cultural interpreter between two different geographies of the world, Turkey and Istanbul, to the future with the understanding of unity of power it has adopted.
Last edition of Contemporary Istanbul, Turkey’s leading international contemporary art fair, brought together 809 works from over 53 contemporary art galleries with foreign collectors and art lovers from 43 countries.
