Increasing Distribution Network Hosting Capacity

The world is moving toward renewable energy sources and away from fossil fuels as part of the energy transition. The entire energy sector is significantly impacted by this shift, from generation to markets and end-use through transmission and distribution.

An enormous amount of intermittent renewable generation is entering the electricity sector as a result of the transition. Europe’s electricity generation and consumption are predicted to at least double by 2050. The transmission and distribution system’s ability to manage the increased and more dynamic flow of electricity will be under unprecedented pressure as a result.

A successful energy transition depends in large part on distribution system operators (DSOs) and electricity distribution networks, which must deal with increased energy supply volatility, new grid stability challenges, more active and flexible electricity consumption, generation feed-in management, and increased sector coupling of multiple energy carriers through storage and conversion technologies.

Attend one of CIRED’s targeted Workshops with the community involved in electricity distribution. The goal of the Vienna Workshop in 2024 is to increase the capacity of the distribution network.

CIRED is one of the most significant conference series for electricity distribution engineers in Europe.

DNO and DSO representatives, technical managers, distribution and planning engineers, innovation managers, experts in regulation and strategy, power grid engineers, and researchers from both academia and industry are all people you should expect to meet.
