Eighteen days of celebration and fun in all the “cities of Venice”.
Very ancient origins with first evidence as early as 1094, the Venice Carnival revived in 1979 after almost two centuries of absence, today maintains its old traditions, respecting a centuries-old history. The Venetian Carnival still means theater, sweet typical foods, extraordinary masks and costumes. And as it happened during the Serenissima, it knows how to transform private palaces into places of celebration for dancing and transgressions.
So let’s go back to the history and present of this great event, which will return in 2026.
A floating pantegana, water parades, allegorical floats, widespread shows, historical re-enactments, the grace of the 12 Maries and the magic of fire that meets water at the Arsenale. All this is the Venice Carnival 2025 “Ad Oriente. Il mirabolante viaggio di Marco Polo”, which will end with the greeting from Piazza San Marco. The parade of floats in Zelarino, the last show of “Terra Incognita”, in the waters of the Venice Arsenale, capable of imagining with its ancestral story and the masked parties in the palaces.

Among the curiosities, 19 people faced a flight of over 30 hours to arrive from New Zealand, another 5 were originally from the French overseas department of Ile de La Reunion, a tropical island in the Indian Ocean south of the equator, while 2 each were from Papua New Guinea, the British Virgin Islands and the Seychelles.
