MedTravelExpo: Russia’s Premier Medical and Wellness Tourism Exhibition

MedTravelExpo

MedTravelExpo, formally known as the International Exhibition for Medical and Wellness Services, Health Improvement and Medical Treatment, is Russia’s only specialized congress and exhibition project dedicated to the development of medical and wellness tourism. Held annually as part of Russian Health Care Week, the event has become the definitive platform for connecting medical tourism agencies, clinics, health resorts, and service providers with international buyers and partners.

Event Overview

The 9th edition of MedTravelExpo will take place December 7–10, 2026, at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre in Moscow (Pavilion 2, Hall 11). The exhibition is organized by EXPOCENTRE AO and has been held since 2017 with support from the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Ministry of Economic Development, and the Ministry of Health of Russia. It operates under the patronage of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The event is included in the official plans of Russian federal ministries and is held within the framework of Russian Health Care Week, the country’s largest medical forum.

Exhibition Profile and Scale

MedTravelExpo brings together the full spectrum of medical and wellness tourism providers:

  • Medical clinics and centres: Private and state clinics, rehabilitation centres, and specialized medical institutions
  • Health and spa resorts: Sanatoriums, wellness hotels, spa resorts, and health improvement facilities
  • Medical tourism agencies: Companies facilitating patient travel and treatment abroad
  • Service providers: Marketing companies, IT solutions, and professional associations serving the healthcare tourism sector

In 2025, the exhibition welcomed more than 50 exhibitors from 9 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Iran, and China. The event attracted 8,700+ visitors from 50+ countries and 86 regions of Russia. The broader Russian Health Care Week, which includes MedTravelExpo, drew over 23,000 professional visitors from 55 countries and featured more than 900 companies from 11 countries.

Why MedTravelExpo Matters

MedTravelExpo addresses a critical gap in the Russian healthcare market: the need for a dedicated platform where medical tourism providers can connect with international partners, showcase treatment capabilities, and develop export opportunities.

Supporting national projects: The exhibition actively contributes to the implementation of Russia’s national projects, including Healthcare, Demography, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, and the federal project for the Development of Medical Services Export.

Facilitating international cooperation: With exhibitors and buyers from across Eurasia and beyond, MedTravelExpo serves as a bridge between Russian medical institutions and international markets seeking high-quality, cost-effective treatment options.

Promoting wellness tourism: Beyond clinical treatment, the exhibition highlights Russia’s extensive network of sanatoriums, health resorts, and wellness facilities—a sector with deep historical roots and significant growth potential.

The International Medical Tourism Workshop

The flagship event of MedTravelExpo is the International Medical Tourism Workshop, an annual B2B event organized specifically for exhibitors. This workshop enables participants to hold direct negotiations with leading foreign buyers—representatives of medical tourism agencies from around the world—right on the exhibition floor.

In 2025, the workshop welcomed representatives from medical tourism agencies in Azerbaijan, Georgia, India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tunisia, and Türkiye, who conducted more than 180 meetings with exhibitors.

This workshop represents a unique opportunity for international agencies to establish partnerships with Russian clinics and resorts, negotiate service agreements, and evaluate treatment destinations firsthand.

Conference Programme

MedTravelExpo 2025 featured 26 events with participation from more than 300 Russian and international speakers. Key events included:

  • The 6th National Congress of Export of Medical Services
  • The 1st Russian School for Chief Medical Rehabilitation Physicians
  • The 7th Russian Congress on the Health Resort Industry: Research and Results
  • The 2nd Forum on Russia’s Priorities: Long and Active Life

The 2026 programme promises to build on this foundation, with expanded sessions addressing rehabilitation, oncology, and healthcare workforce development.
