The Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference, known simply as KIOGE, has served as the premier meeting point for the energy industry in Kazakhstan and the broader Caspian region for thirty years. Since its founding in 1993, the event has grown from a national industry gathering into a major international platform that connects global manufacturers, technology providers, service companies, and investors with the decision-makers shaping Central Asia’s energy landscape.
Held biennially in Almaty, KIOGE 2026 marks the event’s 30th anniversary and will take place from September 30 to October 2 at the Atakent Exhibition and Convention Center. The anniversary edition has already attracted significant international participation, with more than 235 companies from 15 countries confirmed, and expectations that the final count will exceed 500 companies from 30 nations.
A Strategic Gateway to Central Asia
For international companies seeking to enter the Kazakh market or expand their regional presence, KIOGE offers direct access to one of Central Asia’s most significant energy economies. As the region’s largest economy, Kazakhstan provides a strategic gateway to the wider Central Asian market. The country has attracted over $190 billion in foreign direct investment in its oil and gas sector since independence, with dozens of major projects in production, gas processing, petrochemicals, and infrastructure modernization planned through 2035.
The exhibition covers the full spectrum of the industry, from geological exploration, drilling, and production to transportation, refining, petrochemicals, industrial automation, digital technologies, industrial safety, and environmental solutions. Major industry players including Tengizchevroil, KazMunayGas, Caspian Pipeline Consortium, CNPC, Honeywell, Solar Turbines, and ABtec are regular participants.
The Conference: From Megaprojects to Market Leadership
The KIOGE 2026 Conference will convene more than 700 delegates and 85 speakers from 25 countries under the overarching theme “From Megaprojects to Market Leadership: Kazakhstan in the Global Energy Mix”. The program will address the strategic future of the industry across multiple dimensions.
Key sessions include a plenary on global integration and Kazakhstan’s role in new energy value chains, a strategic session on intelligent upstream covering digital technologies and artificial intelligence in exploration and production, and panels on export logistics and the geopolitics of routes. Additional sessions will focus on low-carbon development, ESG standards, gas and gas chemicals, and oil and gas engineering.
The conference will also feature a strategic dialogue involving ministers from Central Asian countries, a presentation of the National Energy Report, and a special session with legends of the oil and gas industry. On the exhibition side, a practice-oriented business program will include company presentations, procurement programs, and technology case studies from organizations including NCOC, KPO, and Tengizchevroil.
Innovation and the Next Generation
KIOGE has increasingly served as a launchpad for innovation within the industry. At KIOGE 2024, the Industry 4.0 Startup Battle final brought together 11 startups selected from over 50 applicants to present solutions ranging from digital queuing systems to VR safety simulators and cloud-based management platforms. Winners received prizes including cash awards, cloud service grants, and access to training programs.
This focus on emerging technologies reflects the broader transformation underway in Kazakhstan’s energy sector. The KIOGE 2026 conference program places particular emphasis on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and smart technologies, recognizing their growing role in optimizing production and improving safety across the industry.
A Platform for Partnership
Beyond the exhibition floor and conference sessions, KIOGE functions as a deal-making venue. At KIOGE 2024, a contract was signed between Kazakh company Nursai Energy LLP and Dutch firm VBR Turbine Partners, underscoring the event’s role in facilitating concrete business outcomes. The exhibition regularly attracts national pavilions from countries including Germany, China, Italy, and Russia, with Italy’s trade agency organizing its first collective participation at KIOGE 2026.
Supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the KAZENERGY Association, and KazMunayGas National Company, KIOGE maintains strong institutional backing that reinforces its position as the authoritative industry gathering in the region. For three decades, it has provided a consistent platform where government, business, and international partners converge to shape the future of energy in Central Asia.
